Glocient Hospitality, a subsidiary of Cavista Holdings, is revolutionising operations at the Ikogosi Warm Springs and Resort in Ekiti State through advanced technology, the company’s General Manager, Lanre Balogun, said.
In an interview with The PUNCH, Balogun disclosed how the adoption of a property management system has transformed the resort’s ability to manage revenue, track stock, and enhance guest experiences.
Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort is owned by the Ekiti State Government, but through its investment arm, Fountain Holdings Limited, it granted a 15-year build, operate, and transfer concession for the resort to Glocient in 2022.
The company is now responsible for revamping, managing, and operating the resort to world-class standards during this period.
Balogun emphasised the critical role of technology in addressing operational challenges in Nigeria’s hospitality sector. “Without technology, we wouldn’t be able to capture data effectively. In a country like ours, if you don’t have proper record-keeping, it’s like pouring water into a basket,” he said.
The PMS integrates key functions, including front office management, restaurant and bar operations, housekeeping, maintenance, and inventory control, enabling real-time monitoring of stock levels and revenue streams.
“For instance, if we have 100 bottles of a beverage and use 20, the system records the revenue from those 20 and tracks the remaining stock as an investment,” Balogun explained.
This data-driven approach ensures transparency and accountability, allowing the resort to meet financial targets. The system also provides performance metrics, alerting managers to progress against goals and highlighting any shortfalls in real time.
The technology overhaul extends to all guest-facing and operational areas, from the lobby and restaurants to access points across the resort. By streamlining processes and reducing errors, Glocient Hospitality is enhancing efficiency and elevating the guest experience at Ikogosi, a key tourism destination in Ekiti State.
Balogun’s remarks underscore Glocient’s broader mission to modernise Nigeria’s hospitality industry. “Technology is what drives us. It helps us see the figures clearly and stay on track with our targets,” he said. The initiative aligns with Cavista Holdings’ commitment to leveraging innovation to boost tourism and economic growth in Nigeria.
