I’m Still A ‘PDP Member’ In APC Gov’t, Says Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has claimed that he remained a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) serving in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government.

Wike disclosed this on Channels TV’s current affairs programme, ‘Politics Today’, on Wednesday night monitored by our correspondent.

He reiterated that he’s an “unrepeatable” member of the PDP working with President Bola Tinubu to achieve his ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda.

“Governance is not about party, party is a vehicle that conveys you. I am a PDP member, unrepeatable,” he stated.

Wike also revealed that PDP governors nominated their allies for appointment in the APC government at the centre.

He maintained that he obtained the permission of the PDP before accepting the APC ministerial appointment.

Wike, however, specifically mentioned that he wrote the PDP leaderships at the South-South zonal and Rivers State levels only, who in turn asked him to accept the ministerial appointment.

Wike also dared the national leadership of the PDP to suspend him over his choice of association and actions.

“How can anyone think of expelling me. I have not seen that person. I want to dare anyone to suspend me,” the former Rivers State governor declared.

On his double appointments as a member of the Campaign Council for the forthcoming governorship election in Bayelsa State by both the APC and PDP, Wike said the development underscored his importance as a politician. He, however, said the PDP didn’t consult him before including his name in the campaign council list.

Wike added that the PDP has to apologise to him and some of his colleagues before he can work with the party in the Bayelsa election.
