In a collaborative effort to curb the distribution of adulterated petroleum products in Katsina State, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has entered into a strategic partnership with the National Task Force of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN).
The partnership was announced during a visit by the State Coordinator of IPMAN’s Task Force, Ado Garba, to the NSCDC Command Headquarters in Katsina, where he was warmly received by the state commandant, Jamilu Abdu Indabawa.
The IPMAN Task Force is tasked with monitoring illegal activities in the petroleum sector, including the distribution of substandard or adulterated fuel.
This initiative, Garba noted, was established at the national level by Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in collaboration with Nuhu Ribadu, alongside key security agencies and stakeholders.
During the meeting, Garba expressed his appreciation for the support shown by Commandant Indabawa and emphasised the importance of cooperation between the IPMAN Task Force and the NSCDC.
He highlighted that one of the core mandates of the Task Force is to work closely with NSCDC and other security agencies, leveraging intelligence sharing and coordinated operations to root out petroleum-related malpractices.
Garba praised the NSCDC’s dedication to ensuring safety and security for the people of Katsina, commending the Commandant’s proactive leadership.
In his response, Commandant Indabawa welcomed Alhaji Garba and his team, reaffirming NSCDC’s commitment to support the IPMAN Task Force in combating petroleum adulteration.
In a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, Buhari Hamisu, stated that the commandant outlined several new strategies adopted to tackle the challenges associated with illegal petroleum activities, assuring that the NSCDC will continue to uphold its mandate to protect lives and property within Katsina State.
