Japa: Gov Nwifuru Approves Relief Allowance Of N150,000 For Medical Doctors

In his bid to curb the Japa syndrome and ensure an excellent Healthcare Initiative in Ebonyi State, Gov Nwifuru yesterday approved a relief allowance of one hundred and fifty thousand naira (N150,000.00) to be added to the salaries of medical doctors working in general hospitals across the State.

Gov Nwifuru made the disclosure when members of the Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT) Foundation (a non-governmental organisation (NGO)) paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the New Government House, Abakaliki.

Governor Nwifuru noted that the gesture is to advance his practical approach to delivering quality healthcare services to the people of Ebonyi, adding that it will assist the doctors in fueling their new cars and offsetting other sundry expenses.

He assured that the State Government will continue to partner with AMURT, which is currently working in some rural communities of the State.

“AMURT’s focus is on primary healthcare delivery, with major emphasis on maternal and child health,” said the State Governor.

He maintained that he has integrated AMURT staff into the State Civil Service to boost their morale, adding that should AMURT cease operations in the State, the health workers integrated into the State Civil Service will continue serving the rural areas, using the AMURT facilities that will be left as health centres.
