Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has signed into law the 2025 budget, allocating ₦698.3 billion for the state and ₦184.4 billion for the 27 local government areas.
Namadi signed the bill into law at a ceremony held on Tuesday, at the Council Chamber, Government House, Dutse, the state capital.
Recall that the budget was passed by the state House of Assembly on Monday without any changes.
Speaking shortly after signing the budget documents, Namadi thanked the lawmakers for the swift passage of the budget.
“I am pleased that the budget has been passed without any changes, and I appreciate the efforts of the lawmakers in ensuring its speedy passage,” he said.
The governor also commended the Speaker of the House, Haruna Dangyatim, for his leadership and commitment to the development of the state.
Earlier, Dangyatim, while presenting the approved budget documents to the governor, praised Namadi’s leadership and vision.
“Your Excellency, we acknowledge the significant developments made under your administration, especially in agriculture and education,” he said.
The Speaker, therefore reiterated the assembly’s commitment to supporting the governor’s development agenda.
“We will continue to work together to ensure that the budget is implemented effectively and efficiently,” he said.
He also assured the governor that the assembly would continue to support his administration’s efforts to develop the state.
The 2025 budget, tagged “The Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa”, focuses on key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.
The budget also allocates N90.76 billion for personnel costs, N63.69 billion for recurrent expenses, and N534.76 billion for capital investment.
The healthcare sector also received significant attention in the budget, with over N40 billion allocated to improve healthcare services in the state.
