Armed bandits led by a notorious warlord identified as Babaro have reportedly taken control of Kankara Local Government Area in Katsina State.
Security analyst Bakatsine disclosed the development in a post on his verified X handle, claiming that the assailants have killed several residents, banned farming activities, and caused a collapse of basic services in the area.
“BREAKING: Bandits led by feared warlord Babaro seize control of Kankara LGA, Katsina State. Farming banned from Marabar Kankara to Yantumaki, dozens killed/kidnapped, healthcare collapsed. Residents beg Gov. @dikko_radda & FG for urgent intervention,” the post read.
LEADERSHIP reports Kankara LGA has consistently remained a flashpoint of violence and abductions, with past attacks drawing nationwide concern—most notably the abduction of over 300 schoolboys in December 2020.
At the time of filing this report, neither the Katsina State Government nor security agencies have issued any official statement regarding the development.
