The Kano State House of Assembly has passed a Bill into law establishing a state-owned security outfit.

The decision followed extensive debates over key provisions of the law. One of the contentious clauses bars any individual who is a member of any political party from heading the security outfit.

Speaking on the development, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Lawan Husaini Dala, explained that the legislative body conducted a thorough review of the law to ensure it benefits every sector of the state.

“The law empowers the security personnel to bear arms, make arrests, prevent crimes, and apprehend offenders across Kano State,” Dala said.

He assured that, according to the law, the leadership of the outfit will be given to a non-partisan indigene of the State.
