Kebbi Govt Commences Renovation Of Yahaya Memorial Hospital

Kebbi State government has begun renovating Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, and the hospital’s management has moved some departments to Kebbi Medical Centre, Kalgo, to continue its operational services.



The permanent secretary and chief medical director of the hospital,  Dr Zaki Abubakar Zaki revealed this to journalists during a press briefing held at Press Centre in Birnin Kebbi.

Dr Zaki also disclosed that Sir Yahaya Hospital which was established in 1952 required an upgrade to handle the present heathcare challenges.

“That’s why our present governor, Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu who has much concerns over his people’s health, has awarded the renovation of the oldest hospital complex,” Zaki said.

He added that the renovation would not affect the daily operations and services of the hospital.

According to him,  six departments have been moved temporarily to Kebbi Medical Centre which include; medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) , Dental and Physiotherapy.

Accident and Emergency( A&E), maternity unit, paediatrics, intensive care unit (ICU), Dialysis,  Laboratory and E-ray will remain in the hospital until after the completion of the renovation work.
