Lookman offers teammate dinner for Napoli assists

In-form Ademola Lookman, in a show of appreciation, extended a heartfelt dinner invitation to teammate Charles De Ketelaere for assisting his brace in Atalanta’s 3-0 win over Serie A leaders Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Nigeria international bagged an early brace before Mateo Retegui came off the bench to add a third, his 11th goal of the campaign on the volley.

Both Lookman’s goals were provided by De Ketelaere in the 10th and 31st minutes, and the Nigerian acknowledged the important role the Belgian played as his second goal was selected among the best goals of the weekend.

The 27-year-old, who netted his seventh goal of the 2024/25 season, was named the Man of the Match after the game, and the Super Eagles star sent his gratitude to his teammate with a dinner invitation.

“Absolutely! He did an exceptional job today, so I would say he definitely deserves dinner. It will be a pleasure to offer it to him.” he said, as quoted by ilmionapoli.

He added, “Yes, of course! Charles played very well and did a great job. It’s always a pleasure when your teammates put you in the right position to score. I’m really happy with Charles’s contribution and the whole team’s contribution. It’s nice to see how we work together and help each other.”

The performance against Napoli capped up a great week for Lookman, who was in Paris on Monday last week for the Ballon d’Or Ceremony, where he secured 14th place thanks largely to his hat-trick in the Europa League Final against Bayer Leverkusen last season.

The Nigerian, who is also considered the favourite for the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award, has posted an impressive 27 goal contributions this year, including 16 goals and 11 assists.
