Luka Modric Defends Kylian Mbappe’s Poor Form At Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s midfielder Luka Modric has come to the defence of teammate Kylian Mbappe amid mounting criticism from fans following the French superstar’s recent struggles on the pitch.

After Real Madrid’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Osasuna in La Liga, the spotlight was on Kylian Mbappe, who has not found the back of the net in four consecutive matches for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

This dry spell has fueled frustration among supporters, casting doubts on Mbappe’s form and contributions to the team. However, Modric, a key figure in the Spanish La Liga giants, urged fans to maintain their faith in the talented forward.

In his post-match comments, the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner said, “Don’t doubt Mbappé. I’m sure he will help us a lot in the future.”

He continued to elaborate on Mbappe’s potential, stating, “He will show everyone why he has been and still is one of the best players in the world.”

Note that since Kylian Mbappe left French Ligue 1 side, Paris Saint Germain for Real Madrid on a free transfer on July 1, 2024, the 25-year-old Nigerian striker has managed to score 8 goals and provide 2 assists in 16 games in all competitions for the Spanish giants. His current contract with Real Madrid will expire on June 30, 2029.
