Military’s Exit From Contributory Scheme Delays Ex-servicemen’s Pension Payment

The military which exited the new pension scheme known as Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), some years ago, is having challenges in the payment of pensions to retired service personnel as and when due, LEADERSHIP learnt.

This is amid calls from some quarters for the police to exit CPS. Recall that a bill for the police to exit the CPS, sponsored by Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, representing Adamawa South, has been passed by the National Assembly and is awaiting presidential assent.

However, the military which exited some years back, it was learnt, is beginning to record delays in the payment of pension benefits.

To this end, ex-servicemen staged a peaceful protest at the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja over non-payment of pension benefits.
