Mohbad: Iyabo Ojo replies Naira Marley, demands N1bn

Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, on Monday, responded to a letter by Olalekan Ojo, lawyer of Nigerian singer, Naira Marley.

In her reply, Iyabo demanded N1bn from Naira Marley over the failure to serve her a pre-action letter.

According to the document  published on the Instagram handle of the actress (@IyaboOjofebris), Iyabo demanded the amount over Naira Marley’s act of “deliberately misleading the public.”

Earlier, Naira Marley had demanded a public apology and N500 million in damages from Iyabo.

An Instagram post by Iyabo in September 2023 was cited.

She was said to have allegedly accused Naira Marley of engaging in “spiritual and physical dealings” with popular late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad which allegedly caused the late act’s “mental harm.”

“It is our instruction that sometime in September 2023, you maliciously and falsely published of and concerning our client on your official Instagram handle ‘iyaboojofespris.’

“Your publication of the above words on the Internet which is readily accessible to users of the system constituted a serious libel and has caused our client colossal damage to his reputation.

“Our client requires you within seven days after the receipt or delivery of this letter an unequivocal retraction.

“The public apology is to be published on your official Instagram handle, @iyaboojofespris, and also on one national daily.”

Responding, Iyabo, through her counsel said, “Our client would’ve ordinarily dismissed your letter dated December 12, 2023, for being outrightly inconsequential and of no relevance, premised on your failure to transmit the correspondence till this very day.

“Our client finds your client’s demands spurious, frivolous and clout-chasing but shall initiate an action in case your client fails to do so. Our client shall be claiming the sum of N1bn.”

Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley died September 12 at the age of 27.
