Most creators after money, not impactful content — Bose Alao

Actress and filmmaker, Bose Alao, has lamented that the entertainment industry is increasingly driven by financial gain rather than storytelling with a purpose.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, she stated that digital platforms such as YouTube had made it easier for producers and content creators to bypass any form of regulation.

“It is no longer news that content creators, producers, and filmmakers are now after the money rather than the moral information that should be passed on to the people.

“We see people using even family members to create content, just to make money. People just create content as long as they have views, they go to any length irrespective of any morals or standards.

“Government should partner with these digital and streaming platforms, social media to monitor, and filter harmful content,” she said.

Alao also advised parents to monitor what their children watch online. She said, “We all know that social media has its advantages and disadvantages. The problem is that not everybody can use common sense. What you feel is wrong can be seen as right to some people. It is left to us to know what we expose ourselves and children to.”
