Musa hails Kano Pillars fans

Kano Pillars forward Ahmed Musa has heaped praises on their supporters for marking the team’s return to Kano with an incredible turnout during the Nigeria Premier Football League match-day 12 game against Heartland on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Fans of the former champions showed how much they missed their team on Sunday, filling up the 16,000-capacity Sani Abacha Stadium for the thrilling encounter which ended 2-2.

However, Pillars could not mark their much-anticipated return with a win and Musa salvaged a point for the former champions in the frenetic encounter with his fifth goal of the season in eight matches.

Forty-four-year-old midfielder, Rabiu Ali also netted his seventh goal of the season as both players struck at the intervals of Suraju Lawal’s brace for the visitors.

In the wake of the game, Musa took to X on Monday to thank the fans for their support.

“Huge thanks to all the amazing fans who came out in their thousands and showed their support yesterday,” Musa wrote.

“Your energy and passion keep us giving our absolute best on the field. This is why they call us SAI MASU GIDA —because of YOU! Although it wasn’t the result we wanted, we kept trying and pushing forward. Let’s keep the momentum going and chase more wins together.”

Musa rejoined Kano Pillars five games into the current season after ending his contract with Sivasspor in Turkey.

He played for them in the 2010 season, emerging as the highest goal scorer with 18 goals before returning for a second stint in 2021.

Thanks to Musa and Ali’s contribution this season, Kano Pillars are currently sixth in the NPFL table with 18 points, five points behind leaders Remo Stars.
