Music was God’s calling not just my choice — Kummie

Budding artiste, Oluwabukunmi Ariyibi, aka Kummie, known for his hit single, ‘Arike’, has described the song as more than just music; calling it a “personal breakthrough”.

Reflecting on the song’s impact, Kummie told Saturday Beats, “I believed in the record. I didn’t care about the numbers; I just wanted God to get it to the right people who needed comfort. ‘Arike’ is more than a song; it represents a breakthrough for me. I made it in 2023, and the moment it was done, I felt free.”

The singer also noted that for him, music is a divine calling. “I’ve always had the feeling that God blessed me with the gift of music, and I’ve trusted Him to lead me. I haven’t even started yet. The vision is way bigger than what people see, and it’s in God’s hands. I have a great team, and we’re working toward the future He has shown us,” he said.

When asked about the challenges he has faced on his journey, Kummie stated, “I haven’t spoken much about my struggles because I have deep respect for my journey. When the time is right, I’ll unpack that part of the story.”

Beyond music, the Arike singer revealed that he is working on a project aimed at supporting people dealing with financial hardship and addiction.

“It’s called Reshape,” he said, adding that more details will come soon.

The singer further asserted that his vision is rooted in faith and impact. He said, “It’s not about how long I live, but the impact I make. I want to be a source of light and inspiration to the next generation. I want to leave a legacy like Jesus did.”
