Robinson Adakosa, the president of the Nigeria Youth League Cup (N-YLC), has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and the NFF Executive Board, following the historic groundbreaking ceremony for the FIFA Players’ Hostel and new training pitches in Abuja.
The newly named NFF-FIFA Players’ Hostel will feature a 68-room facility situated at the heart of Package B of the MKO Abiola National Stadium. This two-wing structure comprises 62 single rooms, four suites, and two executive suites, designed to accommodate players and support their training needs.
In addition to the hostel, the project will also see the construction of two new training pitches—one featuring synthetic grass and the other natural grass—as well as the renovation of the existing synthetic pitch. The facility will include seating terraces for spectators and two dressing rooms for players, enhancing the overall training environment.
Commenting on this landmark achievement, Robinson Adakosa expressed optimism about the project’s potential to positively impact Nigerian football. “Firstly, I want to congratulate all Nigerian football stakeholders, investors, and fans on this monumental groundbreaking for the NFF-FIFA Players’ Hostel and new training pitches,” he stated.
“This historic initiative, made possible through FIFA’s support and exemplary leadership, marks a significant advancement in the development of Nigerian football. The presence of distinguished government officials, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass, further highlights the national importance of this project,” he added.
Adakosa emphasized that providing world-class training facilities for national teams will not only improve performance at all levels but also inspire young footballers across the nation. “This milestone reflects the NFF’s unwavering commitment to enhancing football infrastructure and nurturing talent for future generations,” he remarked.
“As a league dedicated to the development of youth football, we celebrate this achievement with you and eagerly anticipate the positive influence this facility will have on the game in Nigeria,” he concluded.
