The newly appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), Hon. Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani, has pledged to strengthen access to agricultural insurance, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
Danfulani, also known as the Turakin Zamfara, made this known on Tuesday in Abuja during his official assumption of office, where he expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for entrusting him with the leadership of the Corporation.
He also extended special thanks to his mentor, the Minister of State for Defence, Muhammad Bello Matawalle, whose steadfast support he described as pivotal throughout his career trajectory.
In a statement issued by Abdulwali Anwar Tahir, Danfulani reaffirmed his commitment to advancing NAIC’s core mandate of providing insurance solutions to the agricultural sector, a critical pillar of Nigeria’s food security and economic growth.
Staff, management, family, and political associates received the new CEO with enthusiasm, signalling strong institutional and personal support as he begins his tenure.
With a professional background that spans banking, computing, and enterprise development, Danfulani brings a multidisciplinary approach to NAIC.
He previously served in strategic capacities at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and as Zamfara State’s Commissioner for Commerce and Industry.
Danfulani holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Arts and Management from the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom.
NAIC, a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, remains pivotal in safeguarding Nigerian farmers through tailored insurance schemes.
Its record of achievement is bolstered by partnerships with government agencies, private entities, and international development bodies.
The Corporation’s management and staff have congratulated Danfulani on his appointment, pledging full support as he steers NAIC into a new era of growth, innovation, and impact.
