NNPC-SNEPCo competition thrills swimming stakeholders

Parents and officials expressed excitement as the maiden NNPC/SNEPCo Swimming competition ended at Ikoyi Club 1938 at the weekend, with athletes from various schools competing across five age grades in primary and secondary school categories.

The competition featured athletes from different schools, including the IC Marlins Gang, who participated in events such as 50m Fly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle and Individual Medley for both boys and girls.

NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services Chief Officer, Bala Wunti, represented by Deputy Manager of External Affairs, Edith Olubunmi Lawson, expressed satisfaction with the event’s outcome.

“At NNPC Ltd, we believe in the power of sports to inspire, build character, and shape future leaders. Swimming teaches perseverance, discipline, and teamwork values that are critical not only in the pool but also in life,” Wunti said.

“To all the participants: you are already winners for being here. You’ve put in the time, the hard work, and the determination to make it to this stage. We are honoured to support an event that highlights such talent, sportsmanship, and passion.”

Swimming section chairman of Ikoyi Club 1938, Ikedichi Kanu, while appreciating the sponsors, revealed plans to further expose the participating athletes to more competitions.
