No Leakage Of Presidential Communications To Senate Under Lado – Akpabio

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has stated that since Senator Basheer Lado (CON) assumed office as Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Senate Matters eight months ago, there has been no leakage of presidential communications to the Senate.

Speaking in Abuja yesterday, Akpabio described Lado‘s performance as unprecedented, emphasizing that communication between the Senate and President Tinubu has become significantly smoother compared to the past.

He further stated that with Lado, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, Kano is already secured for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Let me put on record that since Senator Lado assumed office as Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on National Assembly (Senate Matters), we have not experienced a single instance of private communication between the Presidency and the Senate being leaked.

“In government, there is what we call the right to know. However, when official matters are conducted on the pages of newspapers and social media due to information leaks, it negatively impacts national security.

„I want to commend you for upholding the principles of governance and respecting the separation of powers.

“Your performance over the last eight months has been unprecedented. You have transformed this office and strengthened the synergy between the Executive and the Legislature, making it more robust and beneficial for all.

“You are undoubtedly a man of excellence, a man of style—someone who stepped into this office and improved it for better results. This is evident in how you meticulously track all bills passed by the Senate and those assented to by the President.

“Ahead of 2027, with the Deputy President of the Senate, the National Chairman of APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and your strategic leadership, Kano is already in APC‘s control,“ he said.

In his welcome speech, Senator Lado praised Akpabio, stating that President Tinubu has found in him not only a dependable ally but also a statesman who understands governance and values cooperation over confrontation.

“Mr. Senate President, your presence here is not only a symbol of harmony between the Executive and the Legislature but also a testament to the power of unity, the strength of a shared vision, and the boundless possibilities when leadership is anchored in service.

“Your Excellency, permit me to specially commend your unwavering and visible support for our President, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

“In you, Mr. President has found not just a reliable ally but a statesman who understands the delicate art of governance and the importance of collaboration over conflict.

“You have not only walked alongside the President; you have championed his Renewed Hope Agenda with conviction, defended it with clarity, articulated it with passion, and advanced it through legislative action,“ he said.
