Northern Senators Mourn Kano Athletes Killed In Fatal Accident

The Northern Senators Forum has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of members of the Kano State contingent returning from the just concluded National Sports Festival in Ogun State.

In a condolence message signed by its Chairman, Senator Musa Yar’adua, the forum extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and the Government of Kano State, describing the incident as a devastating national loss.

“I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Northern Senators Forum following the tragic accident that claimed the lives of members of the Kano State delegation. This devastating incident has left us all in shock and grief,” he said.

He prayed for the Almighty Allah to grant eternal rest to the deceased and comfort to their families at this difficult time.

Yar’adua also expressed sympathy to the injured persons in the accident and wished them a speedy recovery.

While calling for calm, the senator urged the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to launch a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash, stressing that the outcome would be crucial in improving road safety measures across the country.

Yar’adua further appealed to the Kano State Government to immortalise the deceased athletes and coaches, by naming public facilities, stadiums, or other spaces in their honour.

“They paid the ultimate price with their lives serving the people of Kano State, and a lasting honour should be bequeathed to their sacrifices,” he said.

“May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may Allah grant strength and comfort to their families and loved ones,” he added.
