NPFL: Plateau beat Enyimba, Rangers, Abia cruise

Plateau United have climbed up to third in the Nigeria Premier Football League table, thanks to their 1-0 win over Enyimba in a match-day 18 game on Saturday.

Yakubu Adams scored the only goal of the game in the sixth minute, making it a second consecutive winning goal for the forward after scoring the winner in the 3-2 victory over Rivers United in mid-week.

The Jos side are now one point adrift of the top spot, at least until Remo and Lobi who occupy the first and second positions respectively play on Monday.

Elsewhere, Godwin Obaje scored a first half brace as Enugu Rangers came from a down to thrash Gombe United 4-1 in at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

Wasiu Alalade drew first blood for the visitors in the 19th minute but Obaje responsed two minutes later and added the second befoee halftime.

Chidiebere Nwobodo and Kenechukwu Agu added to more goals in the second half for Rangers seventh win of the campaign.

In Umuahia, Abia Warriors were impeccable against Doma United, as they put three goals past the Savannah Tigers.

Ifeanyi Anaemena opened scoring from the spot just before halftime while Sunday Megwo and Ojonugwa Adejoh rounded matters up in the second half.

 Sunshine Stars’ struggles at home continued on Saturday as they were held to a goalless draw by Niger Tornadoes om Akure.

Edith Agoye’a side have now played seven draws this season, with four of them at home.

Six other match-day 18 games of the NPFL will be decided on Monday.
