The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Amadin Enabulele, assured the state athletes of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s support.
According to Enabulele media aide, Wilson Edoko, on Monday, the ESSC boss gave the assurance when he visited various sports training venues at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, where camping activities are ongoing in preparation for the 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State from May 16 to 30.
The ESSC chairman hailed Okpebholo as a true game changer in the development of sports in Nigeria. He said the governor has mandated the Commission to identify and nurture raw talents from across the local government areas in the state.
He said, “The essence of this visit is to assess the performance of Team Edo athletes, boost their morale, and encourage them to stay focused and committed to training.
“Our camping program is designed to prepare our athletes thoroughly for the festival, which is scheduled to be held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, from May 16 to 30, 2025.”
“The commission is immensely grateful to our exceptional governor for redefining sports development in Nigeria. I call him the real game changer for his unwavering support.
“The Governor has mandated us to identify and nurture raw talents from across our communities and local governments, and we have already commenced this critical task. On behalf of the commission, we deeply appreciate the continuous support of our sports-loving Governor.”
Enabulele expressed confidence in both the athletes and coaches, noting that they possess the winning spirit to propel Edo to the top at the NSF.
