NYSC Secures Release of Another Abducted Zamfara Corps Member, Driver

The combined efforts of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the military have resulted in the release of another female Prospective Corps Member, including the driver of the bus kidnapped in Zamfara State on their way to the NYSC Orientation Camp in Sokoto State last year.

This brings the total number of Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) already released to five, says Eddy Megwa, the Director, Press and Public Relations in a statement on Monday.

It would be recalled that 8 Prospective Corps Members were kidnapped on August 17 in Zamfara on their way from Uyo to Sokoto for national service.

However, Megwa said efforts are still ongoing to ensure that the remaining three (one female and two male) still in captivity regain their freedom soonest.

The statement noted, “The Director-General, NYSC, Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed appreciated the security agents for their untiring efforts that resulted in the release of the PCMs, adding the Scheme will never shirk its responsibility of upholding the welfare of Corps Members at all times.”
