OBJ Lauds Unongo’s Contributions To Nigeria’s Unity, Growth

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has described the late political icon of Tivland, Wantaregh Paul Unongo, as a great nationalist whose immense contributions to the unity and political development of Nigeria would forever be remembered.

Obasanjo who spoke in Gboko, Benue State during a condolence visit to the Begha u Tiv Orcivirigh, Prof. James Ayatse, over the death of his son, said Unôngo did his best for his community, Benue, Nigeria and Africa through positive activism for the promotion of justice and fairness, stressing that his death was rather a celebration of life well-spent.

Responding, Orcivirigh Ayatse commended the former president for demonstrating love for the Tiv nation by putting aside his tight schedules to come to commiserate with him.

“You have done everything for the Tiv nation. When we mourn, you mourn with us, when we laugh, you laugh with us. You have even married women for my sons working with you and have established a big farm in my kingdom, you are indeed a worthy leader that will always be remembered by the Tiv nation,” the Tor Tiv stated. He prayed to God to protect Obasanjo to continue express love for humanity.
