Okemute targets two away wins for 3SC

Shooting Stars Sports Club first choice goalkeeper, Okemute Odah, is confident the Oluyole Warriors will win at least two of their remaining four away matches of the 2023/24 NPFL season.

The vastly experienced former Warri Wolves, Rivers United, and Lobi Stars FC goalkeeper served this warming after his team edged Kano Pillars 2-1 in a match day 29 encounter at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Monday.

“This is not the end of our celebration away from home. I’m sure we are still going to win more matches—at least two out of our remaining games on the road,” said the soft-spoken former Al Ain of Saudi Arabia goalie after Gbenga Ogunbote’s team came from behind to claim maximum points on the road.

Veteran Rabiu fired the home team in front after two minutes, while Taiye Murtala and Christian Pyagbara responded for 3SC in 48 and four minutes of added time, respectively.

Oda’s confidence is premised on the strength of their hosts, two of whom are striving for survival.

They will play 19th-placed Heartland at Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on April 19, embark on a seemingly arduous trip to 7th-placed Katsina United on May 5, be guests of Rivers United, who are placed 17th on the log with six games in hand on May 19, and round off their road trips at 15th-placed Bayelsa United on June 2.

Next for the club, who are currently enjoying a rich vein of form in the Nigerian top flight, is a home game against leaders Lobi Stars at Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, on April 14.
