Ondo Decides: DSS Arrests Suspected Vote-Buyer With Bags Of Cash

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a man suspected of vote-buying during the ongoing Ondo State governorship election on Saturday.

The arrest occurred at Ward 4, Polling Unit 007, near St. Stephen’s Primary School in Akure, the state capital.

Eyewitness footage captured the moment DSS personnel, alongside bystanders, ordered the suspect to open the boot of his Toyota Camry car. Upon opening the vehicle, two large ‘Ghana-must-go’ bags were discovered in the trunk. The bags reportedly contained large sums of cash intended to sway voters.

The DSS operatives quickly apprehended the suspect, escorting him into a white bus before leaving the scene.

Vote-buying has become a troubling issue in Nigerian elections, with political agents often accused of using cash to influence voter decisions. Civil society organisations have repeatedly condemned the practice, describing it as a major threat to the integrity of the electoral process.
