Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen netted a hat-trick as Galatasaray secured a decisive 4-0 win against Antalyaspor on Friday night.
Álvaro Morata added a goal from the penalty spot to complete the dominant victory.
Osimhen opened the scoring at Rams Park, converting an assist from Morata in the 30th minute.
Morata doubled the lead with a penalty in the 45th minute and three minutes into the injury time of the first half, Osimhen struck again, assisted by B. Yılmaz.
The Nigerian striker completed his hat-trick, with Y. Akgün providing the assist in the 52nd minute.
This hat trick elevates Osimhen’s season tally to 20 league goals in 22 appearances, making him the top scorer in the Turkish Süper Lig.
Since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli after the fourth game of the season, Osimhen has amassed 26 goals and 5 assists across all competitions in 30 appearances.
Galatasaray’s dominant display reinforces their position at the summit of the Süper Lig.
Prior to this match, they led the standings with 68 points from 26 matches, maintaining an unbeaten record with 21 wins and 5 draws.
Their closest rivals, Fenerbahçe, have accumulated 61 points from 25 matches.
With this victory, Galatasaray extends their lead to 71 points, bolstering their pursuit of the league title.
A post-match statement on the club’s website disclosed that the game was the head coach, Okan Buruk’s 100th game in charge.
“Galatasaray faced Onvo Antalyaspor in the 28th week of the Trendyol Super Lig. Our team won the match played at Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex RAMS Park with a score of 4-0.
“Our goals came from Victor Osimhen (30′, 45+3′, 52′) and Alvaro Morata (45+2′).
“Continuing their undefeated lead, the team increased its points tally to 71 and increased it to 10 with two games more than its opponent.
“Before the match, our coach Okan Buruk was presented with a plaque to commemorate his 100th match as a coach at Galatasaray,” it read.
Yunus Akgün, Lucas Torreira and Victor Osimhen were replaced by Roland Sallai, Dries Mertens and Mario Lemina in the 68th minute.
In the 73rd minute, Antalyaspor’s Van de Streek’s kick was blocked by Muslera.
This was Antalyaspor’s only attack in the second half, the club’s statement noted.
Davinson Sanchez was replaced by Kaan Ayhan in the 77th minute. In the 79th, Kaan Ayhan tried to score from a free kick and his shot was saved by goalkeeper Piric.
In the 83rd, Berkan Kutlu came into the game instead of Barış Alper. In the remaining part, we will go to Beşiktaş away with a clear 4-0 win, while the positions we found with Morata and Sara did not yield any results.
