Outrage Greets FIFA’s 2026 World Cup Final Halftime Show

FIFA’s decision to introduce a halftime show at the 2026 World Cup final has drawn backlash from football fans, with many arguing that the move undermined the essence of the game.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed the change, stating that the final at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey will feature a Super Bowl-style performance during the halftime break.

“This will be a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup and a show befitting the biggest sporting event in the world,” Infantino posted on Instagram.

However, fans world over have voiced strong opposition on social media, with comments such as “Nobody wants this” and “They’re killing the game” flooding platforms.

Many feared that an extended halftime show could disrupt the flow of the match, which is played only once every four years and draws a massive global audience.

Infantino also announced a ‘Times Square takeover’ for the tournament’s final weekend, featuring entertainment and fan events in New York City.
