Oyo claims hockey, abula gold medals

Oyo State added to their impressive medal count at the 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State on Tuesday by winning gold medals in the hockey and abula events at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Pace Setters needed a shootout to defeat Kaduna 4-1 in the tense final after regular time ended 2-2.

In another dramatic showdown at the abula court, Team Oyo’s female team also secured a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Team Bayelsa to win the gold medal.

The match was a display of strength, strategy, and sportsmanship, as both teams battled intensely from the first serve to the final point.

Team Bayelsa put up a strong fight, levelling the score at multiple points in the game, but the Oyo ladies held their nerves to seal the win in the fifth and final set.
