Nigeria on Monday marked the maiden edition of the National Police Day at Eagle Square, Abuja, in a colourful ceremony that brought together top security officials, dignitaries, and members of the public.
The event marked the first official observance of National Police Day slated for April 7, an annual commemoration institutionalised by President Bola Tinubu to honour the sacrifices, courage, and dedicated service of police officers nationwide.
The date, April 7, has now been set aside annually to celebrate the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and recognise their role in maintaining peace and order.
The Eagle Square ceremony featured a parade, award presentations, and displays showcasing the operational capacity of the police. Families of fallen officers, retired personnel, and active duty officers were all part of the historic celebration.
