PICTORIAL: Sanwo-Olu hails Wizkid, Burna Boy, others for making #GreaterLagosCountdown2025 ‘unforgettable’



Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu thanked artists and residents who made the #GreaterLagosCountdown2025 a remarkable event.

In a statement released after the event on Wednesday, Sanwo-Olu thanked the artists who performed at the New Year countdown, saying, “A heartfelt thank you to the incredible artists who honoured Lagos’ call to perform and made the night unforgettable—Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Olamide, Seyi Vibez, and many more.

“Your talent and passion lit up the stage and brought joy to every corner of Lagos. Last night, Lagos came alive in a way that only Lagos can!”


He explained that the energy at the event was “electric, with the vibrant spirit of our people shining through every moment.”

Sanwo-Olu also thanked Lagos residents for coming together in unity to celebrate, saying, “Thank you for showing the world the true Lagos spirit.

“It was a celebration like no other. Lagos is home. Together, we ushered in 2025 with unmatched energy and pride.”

PUNCH Online reports that the countdown was scheduled to start on Tuesday night across five major locations in the state—Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe—with Tafawa Balawa Square being the main stage at Lagos Island.
