Police Arrest Owner As Dogs Maul Security Guard To Death In Lagos

A yet-to-be-identified man has been viciously attacked and killed by security dogs in Pinnock Estate in highbrow Lekki area of Lagos.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a social meida user with the handle @itzbasito, the security guard was seen lying dead with the Boerboel dogs seen approaching his lifeless body.

A source stated that the owner of the dogs unknowingly let them loose which resulted in the attack that claimed the life of the estate guard on Monday, November 4,2024.

The Lagos State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, also confirmed the incident in a post on his verified X handle.

SP Hundeyin stated, “The dog owner has been arrested and is in our custody.”

However, a response to the Police Spokesman’s post added that the owner the dogs would be arraigned for Involuntary Manslaughter.

According to the post by another social media user, “A person who unlawfully kills another in circumstances which does not constitute murder is guilty of manslaughter if he causes death.

“(1) by an unlawful and dangerous act; or

(2) with gross negligence or reckless disregard for human life.”
