Police Uncover Human Trafficking Syndicate In Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has uncovered a human traffic syndicate in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, successfully rescuing 84 victims.

The victims including a child were rescued from a residential building in the Orogun area of the city.

According to preliminary investigations, the victims were believed to be nationals of the Democratic Republic of Congo, who were lured to Nigeria under false pretenses of employment opportunities.

Once in the country, they were allegedly held against their will and their families, extorting large sums of United States dollars.

The rescued individuals were currently being cared for at the Police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, while investigations continue to uncover the full extent of the operation and ensure all perpetrators are brought to justice.

The police operation, underscores the Command’s commitment to fighting human trafficking and protecting vulnerable individuals.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, renewing calls for stronger measures to combat human trafficking.

Authorities were working to reunite the victims with their families and provide necessary support.

The command also urged the public to report any suspicious activities, emphasising the crucial role community vigilance plays in preventing such crimes.
