Pro-Chancellor donates mini-buses to varsity

The Pro-Chancellor, Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, Osun State, Prof. Wale Sulaiman, has donated two mini-buses for the use of students of the institution.

Prof. Sulaiman, who made the donation on the campus of the university in Ila, said the buses were meant to ease transportation challenges of the students.

He challenged elite class in the country to work for a better Nigeria and provide good leadership, adding that when elite class decided to make the country better, they would take steps and Nigeria would feel positive impacts, demanded commitment from them.

Revealing what motivated him to provide the buses, he further said, “This all started from an interaction with students at the first Governing Council meeting.

“The Director of Student Affairs came to meet the Governing Council, and he made a passionate appeal about the suffering and the inconveniences that the students go through to get to school.

“He said some of them walked miles to get to the gate and, from then, walked several miles to get to the classrooms. At that moment, I felt obligated to do something about it and what we are doing today is to show the world that the Governing Council and the entire staff of the University cares about these students. I see this appointment as a call to service and this takes some sacrifice. To me, impossibility is not in my book.”

On the plan of the federal government for the education sector, he said the administration of President Bola Tinubu had placed high priority on investment in education, noting that the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila- Orangun, would not renege on its pledge to produce graduates that can compete anywhere in the world.
