Rivers Campaign Council Declares G-5 Governors PDP’s Soul, Conscience

The Consolidation of the New Rivers Vision Campaign Council has described the five governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) popularly known as “G-5” as the soul and conscience of the party.

The governors include Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.

They have been in the forefront of the campaign for the resignation of Senator Iyorchia Ayu as the PDP national chairman.

Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday, director-general of Campaign Council, Chief Felix Obuah, said the five governors have earned the respect of Nigerians by remaining in the PDP.

Obuah said, “We applaud the G-5 for remaining the soul and conscience of the PDP. Their decision to pursue peaceful options despite obstacles placed on the way has further endeared them to the Nigerian people.”

He stated that all the five governors and other national leaders of the PDP will participate in the grand unveiling of the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Siminalaye Fubara, on Saturday.

The director-general said, “Our gathering here today has been provoked by a strong resolve on our part to provide the press with a clear insight as we prepare for the official take off of our campaign.

“The highpoint of the rally which is billed to take place at the Adokiye Amesiamaka Stadium, would be the grand unveiling of the PDP’s gubernatorial flagbearer, Sir Siminalaye Fubara.”

“The unveiling ceremony will be performed by the G-5 governors who are at the centre of a fight designed to promote inclusiveness. We are happy that these great patriots who believe in one Nigeria will participate in activities marking the flag off of our campaign effort in Rivers State.”
