The Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project, in partnership with Ecobank Nigeria, is set to empower 50 small and medium enterprises in the solar energy sector with a three-day Entrepreneurship Business Training workshop in Lagos.
In a statement on Monday, the Lagos training aims to provide SMEs with essential technical, financial, and business management skills to thrive in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector.
According to the statement, the workshop will cover a range of topics, including the structure of ROGEAP, its grant opportunities, applications of off-grid solar systems, quality compliance, and strategies for market expansion.
The Divisional Head, FCT/North at Ecobank Nigeria, Tunde Dawodu, highlighted the bank’s commitment to supporting SMEs, stressing their critical role in national economic development.
“As a bank, we recognize the significant contribution of SMEs to the economy, including their role in job creation and GDP growth. When SMEs succeed, we all succeed — the bank, the entrepreneurs, and the country at large.
“This training complements our Ellevate Program and Single Market Trade Hub, offering customized financial products, digital tools, and strategic guidance to help SMEs expand into broader markets,” he said.
Also, the ROGEAP Project Fund Manager, Salamatu Baba, emphasized the impact of such training on West Africa’s energy landscape.
“This workshop is more than just a learning event; it’s an investment in the future of clean energy. By equipping solar entrepreneurs with the right knowledge, tools, and networks, we are creating a resilient ecosystem that will drive energy access and job creation across underserved communities,” she said.
