Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing the Kaduna South Senatorial District, has facilitated an ICT training for over 200 participants.
The training aims to equip individuals in rural communities with essential skills to thrive economically using their smartphones. Speaking through his senior legislative aide, Hon. Wilson Iliya, at the three-day programme held in Kubacha, Kagarko local government area, Senator Katung emphasised the need to address rising unemployment, particularly in local communities.
He highlighted that the training, which brought together both men and women from Kagarko, would empower them to harness technology for business growth, e-commerce, and digital marketing through their mobile devices. “My goal is to help our grassroots citizens utilize their smartphones to generate wealth. This training will provide them with the skills needed to succeed in today’s technology-driven environment,” he stated.
Mr. Obamde Sunny Jack, a senior manager at the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NICOMSAT), also spoke at the event, underscoring the training’s objective to help participants leverage their smartphones for financial gain. “We are collaborating with Senator Katung to empower people at the grassroots level to transform their lives using their handsets,” he explained.
He added, “Smartphones are not just for communication; they can be powerful tools for wealth creation through digital marketing from the comfort of home. Our aim is to combat poverty, as the world has become more interconnected, and it’s vital that we train our citizens to embrace technology as a legitimate way to earn money.”
The programme was conducted in partnership with the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NICOMSAT).
