Sundry Foods commits to empowering female employees

Sundry Foods Limited has expressed a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment for its female employees.

In a statement made available to our correspondent on Monday, the Chief Executive Officer of Sundry Foods,  Mr Ebele Enunwa, was said to have committed while addressing female employees during this year’s International Women’s Day event of the firm in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

He said, “Our dedication to gender equality is unwavering and we believe that diversity and inclusion are essential for success and innovation. We are proud that women consistently represent our largest employee resource,” he remarked.

According to Enunwa, the company will stop at nothing in inspiring, connecting and empowering women in its employ until they achieve their full potential.

On how the organisation intended to achieve that, the SFL boss stated that women would be supported and encouraged to pursue career initiatives designed for their personal and professional growth.

He urged women, who resign from their jobs shortly after they start a family, to consider other options.

“For instance, they can request for transfers to be closer to their loved ones or take extended breaks from work during the most difficult periods and as the situation warrants,” he suggested.

Similarly, Enunwa declared that women should not see the childbearing years of their lives as a threat to achieving their full potential, rather they should see it as a temporary phase in their life’s journey that will be over someday.

He assured them, “No matter the circumstances and situations they may face in this regard, SFL is committed to accommodating and encouraging them.”

International Women’s Day is an annual global event by the United Nations to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
