Suspended Ogun Monarch Arraigned For Assaulting 73-yr-old Chief

The Ogun State Police Command has arraigned the suspended Olorile of Orile-Ifo, Oba Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi for allegedly assaulting a 73-year-old chief, Abraham Areola.



Ogunjobi appeared in court on Tuesday on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

Confirming the arraignment, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said, “The Kabiyesi Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, who assaulted one elderly man in a viral video, in Ifo, Ogun State has been charged to court today, February 4, 2025, on a three-count of conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.”

Adejobi further revealed that the embattled monarch was granted bail, and that the case has been adjourned to March 6, 2025.

Reiterating the commitment of the police to justice, Adejobi assured that the police will continue to uphold the rule of law and the core values of the noble profession.”

LEADERSHIP reports that public reactions greeted the viral video where the traditional ruler was seen raining curses on the chief, with threat to bury him if he dies, without consequences.
