Terminal operator gets recognition



The Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has recognized the West Africa Container Terminal, owned by APM Terminals Nigeria, as the “Best Terminal Operator” at the CGC’s Awards ceremony held in Abuja recently.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, WACT-APM Terminals Nigeria highlighted that the award reflected its exceptional performance and significant contributions to Nigeria’s maritime sector.

It emphasised its commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

The firm noted that it had built a reputation for efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability, making it one of Nigeria’s key trade facilitators.


Receiving the award on behalf of the company, the General Manager for Government and Public Relations at WACT-APM Terminals Nigeria, Innocent Ogbuji, expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Customs Service for the recognition.

“We are proud to receive this honour and appreciate the CGC for the award. WACT-APM Terminals Nigeria remains dedicated to maintaining its leadership in terminal operations by embracing cutting-edge technology, prioritising safety, investing in human capital, fostering a strong team culture, advancing corporate social responsibility, and ensuring sustainable practices to enhance trade facilitation with the NCS,” he said.

Located in the Oil and Gas Free Zone at Onne Port in Rivers State, WACT-APM Terminals Nigeria is the country’s first Greenfield container terminal, developed under a Public-Private Partnership model.
