The Chatroom to shape conversations

Five women are taking centre stage with the debut of a talk show called, ‘The Chatroom’. A statement sent to Saturday Beats, stated that the ladies — Kossi Okon, Petite Talker, Akpos Omu, Princess Peters, and Inem Shina — will bring their unique voices, perspectives and energy to tackle a wide range of critical topics affecting  society.

The executive producer and one of the show’s hosts, Kossi Okon, shared her thoughts about the talk show, “It’s a show that we really have not seen before in Nigeria. It’s just the energy and vibe of the show, and what it is trying to portray. Talk shows with female hosts have always been a hit. So, anytime you have a group of women sitting together, it’s always good ratings for TV or any social media outlet.

“We are trying to sell the best version of Africa. The show isn’t all about fashion; it’s about bringing intelligent women together. We are connecting with Gen Z, baby boomers, millennials — pretty much everyone. We’ll be talking about topics that matter to the Nigerian society.”

Emphasising the show’s focus, the producer, Ochuko Omiragwa, said, “It addresses issues bothering the female gender. We wanted five ladies because it wouldn’t be like the regular show with just three or four women. The topics discussed revolve around our everyday life in Nigeria. It will primarily air on YouTube. We are also in talks with major TV stations to broaden its reach. It is not a podcast but a full-fledged TV show that will take over the industry.”
