President Bola Tinubu has extolled the Chairman of Globacom and Conoil, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr., for his transformational contributions to Nigeria’s telecommunications and oil sectors as he marks his 72nd birthday.
In a tribute issued on Monday, President Tinubu described Adenuga’s life as a testament to vision, resilience, and hard work, noting that the business mogul had significantly impacted key sectors of the economy while creating thousands of jobs for Nigerians.
“Dr. Adenuga’s life, from humble beginnings, is a testament to the power of vision and the outcome of resilience. His humility and diligence have enabled him to succeed in banking, telecommunications, oil, and gas,” the President said.
Tinubu hailed the man widely known as ‘The Guru’ for revolutionising Nigeria’s telecoms landscape through Globacom’s pioneering per-second billing, a move that expanded digital access to millions across the country.
He also commended Adenuga for steering Conoil to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with international oil companies, thereby boosting Nigeria’s quest for energy independence.
“Beyond his business achievements, Dr. Adenuga’s philanthropy, through the Mike Adenuga Foundation, has touched many lives—supporting tertiary education, healthcare, and cultural advancement across our nation,” Tinubu added.
Highlighting Adenuga’s continental reach, Tinubu praised his investments across Africa and Europe, which have earned him global recognition, including France’s Commander of the Legion of Honour and Ghana’s Companion of the Star of Ghana.
On behalf of the Nigerian people, Tinubu prayed for continued blessings, good health, and renewed vision for the billionaire businessman.
“Happy birthday, Dr. Mike!” the President concluded.
