Tributes pour in as Baba Gbenro passes away



Gospel actor and movie producer, Moses Are popularly known as Baba Gbenro passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the age of 65. His death was announced by his colleague Seun Adejumobi, who shared the heartbreaking news with the message, “Heaven’s Gain Again! A General Has Gone to Rest.”

While the specific cause of his death remains undisclosed, it has been reported that he had been battling diabetes. The news on Instagram of his passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes and condolence messages across social media.

In a heartfelt tribute to the actor, The founder of the Mount Zion Ministry, Mike Bamiloye praised the late actor’s dedication to gospel drama stating, Dr. Korede Are has gone home to rest. Our employer in this vineyard is Jesus Christ. He alone knows our closing time at work. He was on the film location of Abattoir 5, we never knew he was rounding off.”

Damilola, one of Bamiloye’s sons, also wrote him an emotional tribute. “Saying goodbye is never easy. Our heartfelt prayer is that when our time on earth comes to an end, we will be called into glory, not into shame. Rest in peace, God’s General, Evangelist Moses Korede Are Baba Gbenro,” he wrote.

A gospel music minister, Olayemi Bolaji aka Toluwani Sings expressed sorrow stating, “Ha baba gbenro morogo.” Ebuka songs simply said, “Oh no.”
