U.S. To Reschedule Visa Interviews For Nigerians Affected By Malfunctioned System

The United States Department of State has announced that Nigerians whose visa applications were interrupted by technical glitches will have their interviews rescheduled.

The press officer in the Office of Public and Congressional Affairs, Bureau of Consular Affairs, US Department of State, Jennifer Joh innson, explained that a partial systems outage caused the challenges.

Johnson’s explanations followed reports that several Nigerian visa applicants missed their scheduled interviews, leading to frustrations over disrupted travel plans and uncertainties regarding their visa applications.

“All consular operations have resumed as normal,” Johnson added.

“Visa applicants, whose interviews must be rescheduled due to the outage, will be notified.”

LEADERSHIP recalls that last year, the United States changed its visa processing rules for Nigerian applicants, requiring them to visit the Consulate General in Lagos twice during the application process.

The US embassy stated that this new approach aims to assist applicants in getting ready for their visa interviews and to reduce major delays in the processing of their immigrant visas.
