UCL: Dortmund held to 1-1 draw by Lille in knockout round

Borussia Dortmund were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Lille in their UEFA Champions League knockout round play-off clash on Tuesday night.

Karim Adeyemi gave the home side the lead in the 22nd minute, finishing off a well-worked attack to put Dortmund ahead at Signal Iduna Park.

The German side looked in control for much of the first half, going into the break with a narrow advantage.

However, Lille found their way back into the match in the second half.

Icelandic midfielder Hákon Haraldsson equalised for the French side in the 68th minute, converting a pass from Jonathan David to silence the Dortmund crowd.

Dortmund’s Emre Can was shown a yellow card in the 61st minute, while Pascal Groß also found himself in the referee’s book late in stoppage time.

Despite both teams pushing for a late winner, neither could break the deadlock, leaving the tie finely poised heading into the second leg.
