UCL: Pulisic to miss Red Star clash over calf injury

Christian Pulisic will miss AC Milan’s Champions League clash with Red Star Belgrade with a calf injury, the Serie A club announced on Monday.

Milan said that Pulisic had hurt the “soleus muscle of his right calf” during Milan’s 2-1 defeat at new league leaders Atalanta on Friday, when he was forced off in the first half with the scores level.

“New tests will be carried out in a week’s time,” added Milan, who host Serbian side Red Star on Wednesday.

USA attacker Pulisic will also miss Milan’s home fixture with struggling Genoa in Serie A on Sunday.

Pulisic has scored eight times and set up five more in 20 appearances in all competitions this season and is a key part of Milan’s attack under Paulo Fonseca.

Milan, who are 12 points behind Atalanta in Serie A following Friday’s defeat, sit 16th in the Champions League with three wins from their last three matches in the competition.
