Viktor Gyokeres, who has caught the attention of Manchester United, has shared that his two greatest football idols are the legendary Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the iconic Cristiano Ronaldo.
These players have not only left a mark in the world of football but have also inspired many aspiring footballers, including Viktor Gyokeres himself.
Currently, Gyokeres is thriving in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, playing for Sporting CP, where he has been in outstanding form throughout the season.
In just 22 appearances for the club, the talented forward has found the back of the net an impressive 25 times and has also contributed four assists, showcasing his ability to impact games significantly.
As Manchester United continue to seek a new striker to fill the role of No. 9 in both the January and summer transfer windows, Gyokeres’ name has emerged as a prominent candidate due to his remarkable performances.
In an interview with UEFA.com, Viktor Gyokeres elaborated on the influence of Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo on his career, stating, “The players I looked up to were Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s about how they performed on the pitch; they went the extra mile, which impressed me. I wanted to do similar things on the pitch.”
Furthermore, Gyokeres discussed the essential qualities needed to excel in modern football, emphasizing the importance of physical strength, an instinct for scoring, and effective communication with teammates.
He identified his three strongest attributes as: “my physique, finishing, and that I’m often in the right place to score.”
