WBC Africa champion Kejawa recovering from head injury

Nigeria’s rising boxing talent, Oluwatosin Kejawa, is still recuperating after he suffered a head injury in his World Boxing Council Africa title fight on Saturday at the MECA Regent Circus in Swindon, UK, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Kejawa captured the WBC Africa light-heavyweight title in a hard-fought battle against Tanzanian Abdul Ubaya with a split decision win after a grueling ten-round spectacle.

This pivotal win marked Kejawa’s tenth professional bout, extending his immaculate record to 10 victories, with five knockouts to his credit.

The 22-year-old displayed unwavering determination, showcasing remarkable skills against a tough opponent securing his maiden professional title in a remarkable first-time opportunity.

“I’m so happy!” Kejawa told PUNCH Sports Extra.

“It was a tough fight, you know? It is not everything that always goes according to plan but I just kept working hard and battling against him because I knew I must win this fight.”

In the aftermath of the fight, Kejawa could not go partying with fellow Prosperity Sports Managements signee, Elizabeth Oshoba, and their manager at a club in Swindon as he was in the hospital following a head wound.

“I couldn’t go to the club with the team after the fight that night. I went to the hospital after the fight as I took some shots to the head. I am just at home now resting,” he said.

“I’m recovering well. There are no complications at all.”

Despite sustaining a blow, Kejawa maintained his confidence during the announcement of the winner of the bout against Ubaya.

“I was very confident that I was still going to be announced the winner, yes, it was very close, but I knew I had done enough to beat him and win my first title,” he told PUNCH Sports Extra.
