Yabacon To Empower Innovators With N1m Grant

Yabacon Africa has announced that it will be empowering innovators by providing them with N1m grant to support their projects in the return of its flagship annual event, Yabacon Meet 2024.

The event, which will come up at The Zone, Gbagada, Lagos, on December 7, 2024, with the theme: ‘Innovating For A Brighter Tomorrow,’ will bring together some of Africa’s creative and forward-thinking tech professionals, students, innovators, and investors.

According to the event organiser, it will feature insightful expert presentations, a panel discussion titled ‘Innovation Against the Odds: Transforming Challenges into Opportunities’, and the highly anticipated N1m Pitch Competition. This competition will give participants the platform to present their groundbreaking ideas at the event, with one exceptional winner securing the grant to materialise their vision.

Founder of Yabacon Africa, Jesse Essang, expressed, “This event celebrates Africa’s unparalleled innovative spirit and highlights our collective ability to drive progress through collaboration and bold ideas. “The N1m grant, while modest in today’s economy, is meant to be a meaningful catalyst for bright-minded individuals. It’s not just financial support; it’s a vote of confidence in their potential to create transformative change.

“Whether you are an established tech professional, an aspiring innovator, or simply intrigued by Africa’s flourishing tech landscape, Yabacon Meet 2024 offers something for everyone.”

To participate in the competition, individuals are required to register for the event at Yabacon.africa, follow @YabaconAfrica on X (formerly Twitter) and submit a 60-second video pitching their idea using the hashtags #YabaconMeet2024 and #ifabt. Five finalists will be chosen from the submissions to present their ideas on stage during the event.
Notable speakers expected at the event includes like Abiola Rasaq, David Ike-Njoku, Opeyemi Akosile, Jeremiah Folorunso, Folake Dauda, and Oluwaseun Adesina, who will share their insights on software development, open-source innovation, artificial intelligence, and more.
