Yobe Govt Signs N6.1bn Contract For Damaturu Mega Motor Park

The Yobe State Government, through the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Tourism, and Solid Minerals, has signed an agreement with SAMSUD Construction Nig. Limited for the construction of the proposed Damaturu Mega Motor Park.

A statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Digital and Strategic Communications Yusuf Ali said the project, valued at a total contract sum of N6.1 billion, is scheduled to be completed within 12 calendar months.

Signing the contract on behalf of the government, the Commissioner of Commerce, Industry, Tourism, and Solid Minerals, Alhaji Kaigama Umar said the project will feature several facilities including clinics and workshop sites among others.

“The new motor park will feature modern facilities, including: Loading and unloading sheds, Administrative and terminal buildings, Drivers’ lounge, Cargo handling sections, Clinic, Police post, and fire service station, Restaurant and fruit shop, Public toilets, Mosque, Maintenance workshop among other facilities.”

The state-of-the-art motor park is part of the government’s broader vision for the modernization of Damaturu, the state capital, with the aim of enhancing transport infrastructure and public convenience.

The project which underscores the government’s commitment to transforming Damaturu into a modern and efficient urban center was also meant to provide better services for commuters and transport operators alike.
